CDH CONDUCTS ADOLESCENT HEALTH AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

PLEDGE TO WIN WAR AGAINST ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE (AMR). Grade 7-10 students of Santiago Sur Integrated School pledge to promote the rational use of antimicrobials responsibly during the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Community Outreach Program at Santiago Sur Integrated School, Santiago Sur, Caba, La Union on July 10, 2018.

Caba District Hospital (CDH) conducted an Adolescent Health and Youth Development Community Outreach Program at Santiago Sur Integrated School (SSIS), Santiago Sur, Caba, La Union on July 10, 2018.

A total of 153 students from Grade 7-10 of SSIS participated in the various activities which include lectures on Anti-Smoking Awareness, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Mobile Blood Donation, Violence Against Women and Children and Yakult Probiotics. Other activities include handwashing lecture and demonstration, question and answer, dance number, and signing of the Pledge of Support to CDH’s Anti-Smoking Brigade Advocacy and Anti-microbial Stewardship.

Chief of Hospital Gretchen F. Aromin gave an inspirational message to the youth and introduced the hospital’s Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program. She emphasized that as the future leaders of the community, they should be aware on the issues and challenges that the youth are facing today. She encouraged the youth to support the various programs of the hospital specifically the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program to help the institution and the Province of La Union in achieving its vision to become a Healthy and Happy La Union by 2022.

Highlight of the activity was the signing of the Pledge of Support to Anti-Smoking Brigade by the teachers of SSIS, headed by the principal Mr. Jimmy Gapuz and the Pledge to promote the rational use of antimicrobials responsibly signed by the students.

CDH recognizes the vital role of all adolescents in the society now and in the future. Advocacy for their welfare includes physical, mental and social well-being, imposition of reproductive health rights and provision of empowerment opportunities to prepare them to be productive members of the community
