SP Staff Joins Sanggunian Secretaries League Meeting

Representatives of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of La Union headed by Asst. Provincial Secretary, Dr. Jane T. Flores attended the Philippine League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian (PLEASES) – La Union Chapter meeting held at the Agricultural Processing Complex of Naguilian, La Union on June 29, 2018.
In attendance were the Sangguniang Secretaries of the City and Municipalities in La Union together with their staff. The league’s President, Ms. Rosalie J. Dout, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Secretary of Bauang presided the meeting and discussed important matters such as the reorganization of barangay secretaries of their respective municipalities.
Participants were capacitated with the preparation of barangay ordinances and resolutions, minutes of meetings, and other communications. PLEASES members requested that they’ll be furnished with legal documents or memorandum circulars to serve as their basis in organizing the barangay secretaries. The re-organization of the Legislative Staff Association of La Union (LESALU) was also discussed. They were requested to attend the next regular meeting for their re-organization.
Also discussed during the meeting is the participation of the SB and SP Secretaries to the Regional Convention. Though it is not yet finalized as to the date and venue, PLEASES Regional President Ms. Luisa Liwanag encouraged their participation to said convention. She also discussed the schedule of other PLEASES assemblies and conventions for their guidance. It was agreed that their constitution and by-laws will be revised considering that there are many new members of the organization.
Finally, in support to the Agri-Tourism development strategy of the province, the SP staff visited the BASI Processing Center of Naguilian. They had a glimpse on how the popular product of Naguilian, basi and vinegar were being made.
