La Union Children, Women Advocates Convene

Social Worker Officer IV Ms. Elnora Dela Cuesta of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office presides the second Regular Quarterly Meeting of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children and Provincial Committee Against Trafficking – Violence Against Women and Children on June 29, 2018 at the La Union Technology and Livelihood Development Center, Guerrero Road, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Provincial Government of La Union, through the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) and in cooperation with the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) and Provincial Committee Against Trafficking – Violence Against Women and Children (PCAT-VAWC), convened for its second Regular Quarterly Meeting on June 29, 2018 at the La Union Technology and Livelihood Development Center, Guerrero Road, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Presented in the second quarter meeting were the tentative results of the 2018 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) and its indicators reported by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer II Ms. Analyn A. Cuyop of the Department of the Interior and Local Government - La Union (DILG-LU). The results are currently being checked by the DILG National Office and are expected to show positive outcome for the whole province after the review.

Also discussed in the said meeting are suggested activities for the Children’s Month on November 2018 such as the “Aldaw Dagiti Ubbing ti La Union” showcasing talents of children from different municipalities and city. Other suggested activities were awarding of the Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance to Local Government Units (LGUs) based on the CFLGA results, La Union Youth Congress and Conferment of Outstanding Day Care Workers of La Union.

Other matters that concern children and women were also raised and discussed in the meeting. Around 30 participants from different Provincial Offices and Agencies supporting the advocacies of PCPC and PCAT-VAWC attended and submitted their accomplishment reports on their projects, programs and activities done on the second quarter of the year.
