The 21st Sangguniang Panlalawigan of La Union passed Ordinance 131-2018 renaming the Meeting Hall of the 3rd Basement of the Speaker Pro Tempore Franisco I. Ortega Provincial Legislative Building and Session Hall to “Cong. Eufranio “Franny” C. Eriguel Hall” in honor and memory of the late ex-congressman of the 2nd District of La Union.
As authored and on motion of SPM Reynaldo M. Mosuela and unanimously seconded by all the members of the August Body, the said ordinance was approved during the 98th Regular Session of the 21st Sangguniang Panlalawigan on May 17, 2018.
The ordinance acknowledges the late Ex-Congressman’s contributions and outstanding public service to the people of La Union as legislator, thus renaming the hall in his name will perpetuate his memory and will serve as an inspiration to the present and to the future generations.
Cong. Franny was brutally murdered while giving a speech in a general assembly in Barangay Capas, Agoo, La Union on May 12, 2018, just two days before the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. The Cong. Eufranio “Franny” C. Eriguel Hall is the regular venue of committee meetings and committee hearings of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as well as meetings conducted by different departments of the Provincial Government of La Union.
