LA UNION HOSTS 2018 DILG-SGLG PROVINCIAL ROLL-OUT

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) hosted the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Provincial Roll-out spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on May 11, 2018.

The DILG-SGLG Provincial Roll-out was participated in by 20 City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs), 20 LGU SGLG Focal point persons provincewide, Department Heads/Chiefs of Hospitals and other key officials of the PGLU.

The activity was conducted to orient the stakeholders on the 2018 SGLG assessment criteria so each may be informed of their participation in the value chain. DILG SGLG Provincial Focal Person Mr. Calvin Lubrin gave an overview of the 2018 SGLG Assessment Criteria.

Cluster Leader Mr. Domiciano N. Soriano, Jr. of the DILG discussed the different SGLG indicators such as Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

Regional SGLG Focal Person Ms. Rhodora Soriano discussed the procedures and templates to be followed and the SGLG timelines. She informed the participants that the regional assessment will be done through table validation. “Ang labanan ngayon ay dapat maganda ang maibibigay na documents,” she emphasized.

The Strategies for Provincial Assessment was discussed by DILG-La Union Provincial Director Paulino G. Lalata, Jr. He encouraged all concerned stakeholders present to support the target of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III to get 100% passing rate for all LGUs in the SGLG.

For its integrity and good performance towards continuing governance reform and local development, La Union was a recipient of this much-coveted award for two consecutive years from 2016 to 2017.
