DTI Launches Kapatid Mentor Me Program 2018

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched the Kapatid Mentor Me Program 2018 for the entrepreneurs of the province of La Union at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on April 20, 2018.
Serving as one of the speakers, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III, through Vice Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce, stressed the need for innovation and constant change in improving the efficiency and effectivity of products and services to keep up with the times. During the first days of his administration, Gov. Pacoy immediately implemented his Transformative Governance Framework to effect tangible change through good governance and modernize the delivery of public service.
The program launch included Module 1: Entrepreneurial Mind Setting and Module 2: Marketing. Mr. John Paul “PJ” Lanot, President of the Pino Group of Concepts and the speaker of Module 1 shared that the entrepreneurs of La Union are still reserved but are easily enticed to participate.
Mrs. Erlinda Padio, a furniture shop owner in Pugo, La Union attended the seminar despite being able to run their business for 18 years to be updated with the modern way of managing businesses especially with the use of technology.
Another part of the launch is an inspirational forum from the successful entrepreneurs who attended the Kapatid Mentor Me Program 2017. They are Lomboy Farm Manager Ms. Gracia Lomboy, Family Table Artisan Chocolate and Café Proprietor Ms. Judith B. Marron, and Northway Arts and Crafts Manager Mr. Felipe Garduque. Lomboy shared that DTI gave them machines, trainings, and assistance that helped their business be the first Department of Tourism (DOT) site in La Union which is essential in the realization of La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
Launched on October 7, 2016, the Kapatid Mentor Me Program 2018 is a nationwide initiative of the DTI and the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) to help the country’s micro and small enterprises. Participants are from different municipalities and city of La Union with various businesses such as restaurants, herbal medicines, snack houses, furniture and more. The Program is composed of 10 weekly modules such as Marketing, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Operations Management among others.
