To boost the accuracy and reliability of tourism data essential for planning and promotion, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) spearheaded a provincewide review and assessment of the Standard Local Tourism Statistics System, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening La Union’s tourism industry through data-driven strategies.

Held on March 18–19, 2025, at the 4th Floor of the La Union Provincial Administrative and Commercial Building, the two-day activity was organized by the La Union Provincial Tourism Office, in partnership with the Department of Tourism – Region I. It brought together Local Tourism Officers and focal persons from across the province to evaluate current data-gathering practices, resolve reporting challenges, and align systems with national standards.

The program further aims to build the capacity of LGUs in managing tourism data to support informed planning, policy formulation, and sustainable tourism development. Highlights included the review of 2024 demand data from accommodation establishments, tourist attractions, and MICE Venue or Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions venues, alongside updates to the 2025 Tourist Arrival Report templates. An open forum also allowed participants to raise issues and clarify reporting protocols.

Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David expressed full support for the initiative, stressing the importance of accurate tourism data in shaping effective programs and promoting the province as a leading agri-tourism destination.

Beyond technical training, the activity served as a platform for LGUs to align their efforts toward a unified tourism vision, one that balances economic growth with sustainability. It further reinforced La Union’s proactive approach to building a resilient, data-driven tourism sector aligned with its goal of becoming the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon.
