La Union Holds First Stakeholder's Scientific Forum on Immunization

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) successfully conducted the first Stakeholder's Scientific Forum on Immunization as part of the Department of Health’s Big Catch-Up Immunization Campaign at Dencio’s Bar and Grill, attended by Pediatricians from various hospitals and representatives from the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center.
The event, aimed to increase immunization coverage in the province, was spearheaded by the PGLU-Provincial Health Office (PHO) in partnership with the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO) and Department of Health - Center for Health Development Region I (DOH-CHD I). Philippine Pediatrics Society (PPS) - Northern Luzon Chapter, local government units, and hospitals in the province were also partners in the event.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David’s message, delivered by Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Herminigildo M. Velasco, emphasized collaboration, stating, “We must all work together to ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of immunization. Together, we can protect lives and build a stronger and healthier La Union.”
The PPS, represented by President Dr. Amelen V. Palanca and Vice President Dr. Crisanto Montemayor, played a key role in the forum by raising awareness and advocating for the importance of immunization. Discussions were centered on the National Immunization Program in Region 1, the Big Catch-Up Campaign, the immunization program situation in La Union, and data recording and reporting mechanisms. The PPS also presented a Manifestation from the Philippine Pediatric Society North Luzon Cluster.
The forum concluded with the signing of a pledge of commitment to strengthen public-private collaboration for the immunization program. The pledge underscored a shared commitment to driving innovation and creating lasting positive change in La Union's immunization efforts.
The first stakeholder’s scientific forum on immunization held in the province was the first among the four provinces in Region 1, highlighting the importance of La Union PROBINSYAnihan among healthcare workers, towards a healthier province.
