The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is on high alert as preparations intensify for the upcoming La Union Surfing Break 2024 (LUSB) and the observance of Undas.

With unpredictable weather patterns affecting the province, the PDRRMO is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of locals and tourists.

Although there are currently no typhoon wind signals in La Union, forecasts indicate potential rough waves at San Juan and Bacnotan beaches. In light of this, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David has directed the PDRRMO to maintain a heightened alert status throughout the festivities and holidays.

The PDRRMO has activated the Provincial Incident Management Team to oversee emergency response operations. Resources for disaster management, including rescue vehicles, ambulances, equipment, and relief supplies, have been strategically pre-positioned at the Emergency Operations Center.

Municipal and city DRRMOs are conducting continuous roving operations to monitor developments and ensure public safety.
Beachgoers and participants in the LUSB are advised to refrain from water activities, with maritime authorities on standby to respond to any potential dangers posed by rough seas.

The PGLU urges everyone to remain #AlertoKAPROBINSYAnihan and adhere to safety advisories to ensure a safe and meaningful holiday season in La Union.
