The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, has undertaken significant efforts to bolster tax education and management during the first semester of 2024. As part of its comprehensive Information Education Communication (IEC) campaign, it conducted two pivotal activities aimed at enhancing public awareness and streamlining tax processes, the Real Property Tax Campaign in Barangay Assemblies and the Seminar Workshop on Public Auction Processes.

The Real Property Tax Campaign was conducted in various barangay assemblies in a concerted effort to improve taxpayer knowledge and engagement. This campaign was designed to provide residents with crucial information about real property taxes, including how they are assessed, the importance of timely payments, and the impact of these taxes on local development. By bringing the information directly to communities, the campaign aimed to address common concerns, clarify misconceptions, and foster a culture of tax compliance.

Complementing the campaign, the two-day Seminar Workshop on Public Auction Processes focused on the formulation of processes, policies, and procedures for the public auction of real property tax delinquencies. This workshop was crucial for refining the procedures related to managing properties with unpaid taxes. The goal was to establish a clear, fair, and efficient process for auctioning off delinquent properties. By doing so, the PGLU aims to ensure that the auction process in the province is transparent and equitable, thereby boosting public confidence in the system and improving tax collection efficiency.

The said initiatives are integral to the province’s broader strategy of enhancing tax administration and public engagement. Together, they aim to improve financial stewardship among KaPROBINSYAnihan and strengthen the overall governance framework within La Union. Under the transformative leadership of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, the PGLU is set to continue on its progressive path for another round of Real Property Tax Campaign for barangays and the second phase of the Seminar-Workshop on Public Auction Processes in the latter half of 2024.
