Strengthening measures toward environmental conservation, the Provincial Government of La Union’s (PGLU's) “Classroom Without Walls,” a Green Education Program, brought together 50 students of Oaqui Elementary School to become active advocates for the environment through environmental lessons and activities conducted on August 15-16, 2024.

It aimed to cultivate responsibility among the youth to take initiative in caring for the environment. Outdoor exploration or experiential learning is the main strategy of the activity. Students were also able to understand marine biodiversity, specifically Pawikan Conservation through an educational tour at CURMA.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, represented by Executive Assistant Justo “Tito” Orros III, expressed her support for the program. She underscored the important role of the youth in building a sustainable future by establishing their duties as members of the community and encouraging other KaPROBINSYAnihan to be environmental stewards, “...may responsibility po ang bawat isa sa inyong pangalagaan ang ating kalikasan upang sa ganon ay mapanatili nating maayos at maganda ang probinsyang inyong kalalakihan.”

The Classroom without Walls was also spearheaded by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Joy Ortega and executed by the Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office. It is among the many programs of the PGLU dedicated to protecting the environment under the #KalikasanNaman campaign.
