76 KaPROBINSYAnihan Cyclists Join ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan’

To promote cleaner air through non-motorized modes of transportation, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) enjoins a total of 76 KaPROBINSYAnihan cyclists to pedal for a greener province on June 22, 2024, at the City of San Fernando, La Union in celebration of the Philippine Environment Month 2024.
The fun bicycle ride covered an 8.3 km route that started from the Provincial Capitol Grounds and ended at the Bacsil Ridge Historical Marker. Spearheaded by the Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office, it engaged the public to use bicycles to lessen their carbon footprint while promoting a healthier lifestyle by being active through cycling.
“Sana po, sa bawat padyak ninyo ngayong araw ay tumatak sa inyo that you are making an impactful difference in our environment and in the lives of every KaPROBINSYAnihan,” Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, represented by Executive Assistant Eleazar Belgica, said as she emphasized the greater ecological purpose of the fun ride. She hoped that through initiatives such as the Padyak para sa Kalikasan, the PGLU would be able to instill long-lasting values in every KaPROBINSYAnihan to care for the environment while practicing recreational and sports activities.
The proclaimed best cyclists of the event were Josiah Tudor M. Nudo from San Antonio, Agoo, for the 18-year-old and below category; Jaypee Olarte from Tagore Proper, Pugo, for the 19-29-year-old category; Fidel Ramos from Santo Tomas was hailed, for the 30-40-year-old category; and Richard Olivenza from Biday, City of San Fernando, for the 41-year-old and above category.
Meanwhile, 9-year-old Zemarie Ellyjohn Estipular from Santiago, City of San Fernando received special recognition for being the youngest cyclist. He was able to fully participate and finish the race along with the other cyclists.
With the success of the event, ‘Padyak para sa Kalikasan’ and other activities advancing environmental protection advocacies are assured to be staples under the #KalikasanNaman campaign of the PGLU.
