Business Leaders of La Union hosted the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) 30th North Luzon Area Business Conference (30th NLAB) on August 12, 2021. Anchored on the theme "REBUILDING THE ECONOMY THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS," the conference transpired for two days (August 12-13, 2021) via video conferencing. PCCI-La Union led the activity.

La Union Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III delivered the welcome remarks and emphasized that "The North Luzon Area Business Conference is a ray of light as we face the most impactful game-changer the world has faced during these modern times." The coming together of business leaders, government officials, academe, and other stakeholders in this conference is a testament that there is hope as we look forward to a promising future." He further emphasized strategic partnerships towards economic recovery and resilience.

The opening remarks were given by the Area Vice President of PCCI North Luzon, Ms. Gregoria S. Simbulan. She highlighted that the theme of NLAB depicts the strategy of PCCI Chapters in the country have taken to pursue their goals of a progressive, resilient and sustainable economy. In particular, PCCI North Luzon has forged partnerships with the Local Government Units and National Government Agencies to maintain an environment conducive to business that supports the development and growth of MSMEs. Next, PCCI La Union President Lina Flor G. Hizon presented the agenda of NLAB.

Headed by PCCI Local Chambers from Regions I, II, III, and Cordillera Administrative Regions, prominent business leaders, key national and local government officials, industry associations, academe, and other stakeholders presented solutions, strategies, and business practices that would help businesses in their recovery efforts, resilience and sustainability.

The 30th NLABC aims to help rebuild industries in the short term while also looking at medium to long-term growth objectives and strategies. Topics Discussed are the following: Forging Strategic Partnerships in reviving the tourism Industry in North Luzon, Game-Changing Infrastructure Developments in North Luzon, Fast Tracking the Recovery of MSMEs: Best Practices of Government, Emerging Opportunities Amidst and Beyond the pandemic, Addressing the challenges of Agri Sector competitiveness.

An awardee of the 2020 ASEAN Business Award, Mr. Xavier B. Mercado, Halo Halo De Iloko, shared his success story. The said business establishment started as a refreshment parlor and grew to become an International Awarded Restaurant. It was born out of a passion for food and hospitality.
