PESO & NRCO Provides Financial Awareness Training To OFW Returnees

Ms. Iries Sarmiento Mazon, NRCO Reintegration Officer, Region I, discusses Financial Awareness and Small Business Management during the Financial Awareness and Small Business Management Training held on April 12, 2018 at the PESO office, City Of San Fernando, La Union.

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) La Union in partnership with the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) conducted the Financial Awareness and Small Business Management Training (SBMT) for Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Returnees on April 12, 2018 at the 3rd Floor of LUPAC Building, Quezon Ave., City of San Fernando, La Union.

The training aims to assist the OFWs returnees and their families in putting up small business enterprises for self – employment.

The said seminar - training introduced the participants to the significance of careful planning, selection and creation of their prospect business. OFW returnees and their family members also learned how to start a business to improve their means of living.

A total of 35 participants coming from the provinces of La Union, Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur attended the said activity. Ms. Iries Sarmiento Mazon, NRCO Reintegration Officer for Region I, discussed insights about the importance of saving money and the basic management of business. Mr. Carlo P. Mondina, PESO Representative, also discussed the programs and services of the PESO.

The training is a requirement for the availment of Livelihood Development Assistance Program (LDAP) and Balik Pinay! Balik Hanapbuhay! (BPBH).

The NRCO programs and services enable OFWs and their families to engage in entrepreneurial activities and to empower them to invest in business. The agency works closely with other DOLE agencies, such as the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the PESOs.
