A total of 160 Integrated Social Forestry-Certificate of Stewardship Contract (ISF-CSC) holders from Caba, La Union, have received seedling assistance from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) to support them in their compliance to the Stewardship Agreement. These Stewardship contracts, under Integrated Social Forestry program, allow holders to occupy forestlands, cultivate 20% forest trees and 80% agricultural crops and/or established community-based forest management towards sustainable development of forest lands and resources of the province.
Manifesting La Union PROBINSYAnihan, the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office, the Municipal Government of Caba, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, ISF-CSC holders from barangays of Gana, Liquicia, Sobredillo, San Fermin, San Gregorio, and San Jose in Caba, were provided with coconut seedlings and budded calamansi. The distribution took place on October 2, 2024, in San Jose, as part of a broader effort to support both the ecological and economic well-being of these forest stewards.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, in her message, urged the ISF-CSC holders to remain steadfast in their commitment to forest conservation and management, recognizing their crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of La Union's natural resources.
“Sana po ay manatili kayong committed sa inyong responsibilidad sa ating kagubatan at kalikasan dahil ang inyo pong mga actions ngayon sigurado pong magkakaroon ng malaking impact sa present and future generations natin,” the governor emphasized.
The event was also attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Cynthia Angelica M. Bacurnay, Henry B. Balbin, Victor I. Rivera and Caba Mayor Donna Crispino, who expressed their support for the program and its long-term benefits.
This initiative aligns with the PGLU's continued #KalikasanNaman efforts, aiming for sustainable forest management and a greener future for La Union, in line with the province’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
