Aligning with the Provincial Government of La Unionโs programs and priorities anchored in P.U.S.O. Agenda, the La Union Council for Culture Arts, and Language (LUCCAL) convened and reorganized during the 3rd Quarter Council Meeting on October 3, 2022 at the Old SP Conference Room, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Presided by Board Member and Committee Chair on Education and Culture, Honorable Cynthia Angelica M. Bacurnay, the meeting underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships and collaboration among members in working closely in the continuing pursuit of preserving and promoting La Union Culture, Arts and Language.
LUCCAL also identified recipients of the Kampeon ti Lengguahe Award. This award aims to accord government units/agencies, media, businesses, schools, religious institutions, civil society groups, non-government organizations, and individuals who have taken strides to increase the use, value, and prestige of Iloko.
The council likewise discussed the creation of a three-year Medium Term La Union Cultural Development Plan (LUCDP). Amendment of the Executive Order reorganizing the LUCCAL was raised to update the membership for both the council and secretariat. Board Member Bacurnay was also requested to be appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Council following the amendment of the Executive Order. Further, the crafting of the Internal Rules and Regulations was set to be part of the next meetingโs agenda items in addition to the Approval of the three-year Medium Term of LUCDP.
As the Council Secretariat, the La Union Provincial Tourism Office-Culture and Arts Unit will guide LUCCAL as they stay in their core elements of ensuring meaningful and tangible projects for the Provinceโs Culture, Arts and Language as their contribution in La Unionโs vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
