To cap the month-long celebration of La Unionโs 172nd Foundation Anniversary, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Treasurer's Office headed by Provincial Treasurer Janet D. Molina, conducted an online Financial Literacy and Tax Awareness Campaign on March 23, 2022 via video conferencing.
Targeting the provinceโs youth sector, the said activity was attended by the Senior High School Students of Luna National High School who are enrolled under the strands of Accountancy, Business and Management and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The PGLU made sure that through the online activity, the participants would be able to better understand and appreciate taxation. Learning Service Providers gave a comprehensive lecture and notes on taxation that raised studentsโ awareness on the value and importance of local taxes and how it affects the local development and effective and efficient delivery of basic services to the people. Participants were also able to have their own takeaways in managing their financial resources to effectively come up with better financial decisions.
In his message, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III mentioned that the online Financial Literacy and Tax Awareness Campaign of the PGLU is a great opportunity for the students to learn some adulting tips as they enter young adulthood, โI am optimistic that after todayโs webinar, you would realize the importance of managing your finances as young as you are, and that this activity was made to prepare you in the next years of your lives as you enter young adulthood.โ
With the positive feedback from the Senior High School participants, the PGLU is looking forward to conduct similar activities to more kaprobinsiaan who belong to the youth sector for it allows them to appreciate their vital roles as future responsible tax payers and contributors in building a Stronger La Union, a province worth living in.
