Ten young professionals and fresh college graduates from the province of La Union were given employment opportunities in the Provincial Government through the Department of Labor & Employmentโs (DOLE) Government Internship Program (GIP). This was made possible with the partnership of the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and DOLE-La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO).
GIP aims to provide opportunities for young workers to serve the public through the projects and services of government agencies and offices at both local and national level. The beneficiaries will gain experience, hone their skills, learn the value of work and will be performing functions relative to public service delivery for five months starting August 1, 2022.
Before their deployment to the different offices in the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), the GIP beneficiaries underwent Guideline Orientation from the Provincial PESO Manager Ms. Charito C. Dator; and a representative from the DOLE-LUFO, Ms. Darbie Ann R. Fernandez, Labor & Employment Officer III.
To inspire the fresh graduates and look forward to the opportunities as a GIP beneficiary, Ms. Judy Ann A. Apilado shared her GIP success story. From being a GIP beneficiary in PESO La Union, she now works there as a Job Order employee rendering assistance to clients and doing administrative work.
In her words, โ Yung experience and insight into the working world, na despite may COVID-19 may mga programang ganito para sa mga fresh graduates na katulad ko to gain practical knowledge and skills na mas napabilis kong nagamit sa work ko ngayon." Ms. Apilado is very thankful that the GIP became a blessing and a great career development activity during the duration of her internship towards her employment in the PGLU.
With the strong partnership and #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan of PGLU with the DOLE-LUFO and the different Local Government Units thru their PESOS, this joint project has been successfully implemented as one of the youth employment facilitation programs of the government that will continue to grow for the promotion of youth empowerment towards a productive future & the goal of reaching inclusive growth through various programs for employment and sustainable poverty reduction in the province of La Union.
