Upholding its commitment to provide educational assistance to the underprivileged but deserving students in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) conducted on May 31, 2022 an online orientation to their existing qualified scholars under the La Union Education Assistance and Scholarship Program (LUEASP).

The PGLU through the Office of the Provincial Governor (OPG) together with the LUEASP Technical Working Secretariat virtually convened its 1,021 ELYU ischolars to get in touch with them, send regards and get to know how they are coping with different learning methods their respective schools have adapted during this pandemic.

Further, the scholars were given a refresher on the underlying guidelines and provisions of their scholarship grants. They were reminded of their responsibilities as government scholars and were given time to inquire and get clear answers on issues that might arise in their studies and extra curricular activities that could compromise their scholarship grants. The OPG and LUEASP Technical Working Secretariat were able to give comprehensive answers to the scholars and even commended them for doing great in their studies amidst pandemic challenges.

As the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chair on Education, Second District Board Member Nancy Corazon M. Bacurnay attended the scholarship orientation and delivered words of encouragement to the scholars. Moreso, she briefly discussed key points on La Union Educational Assistance and Scholarship Code so the scholars would deeply appreciate the privilege given to them by the PGLU.

In a video message, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III reminded the scholars to be grateful for the educational opportunity given to them by the PGLU through their scholarship. He also motivated them to strive and finish their studies.

โ€œLagi ninyong tatandaan na hindi lahat ng gustong makapag-aral ay nabibigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon. The Provincial Government of La Union is here to support you and provide such assistance. Wala akong ibang hihilingin sa inyo kundi ang pagbutihin ang inyong pag-aaral. Magtapos kayo dala-dala ang mga pangaral ng inyong mga magulang at inyong mga natutunan bilang isang iskolar ng bayan.โ€

In the midst of the challenges of the pandemic, the PGLU shall continue to support capable and goal-driven students and learners, who are determined in helping build a #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in.
