Exhibiting forward-thinking and extending utmost care for the safety of kaprobinsiaan, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David convened the Provincial Incident Management Team today, August 23, 2022 at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Training Hall, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Highlighted in the meeting were the operations taken in La Union before and during the landfall of Severe Tropical Storm #FloritaPH. Further, preparations for any incoming weather disturbances were also tackled.
Gov. Rafy encouraged the team to work together to further expedite the financial process to purchase additional disaster response equipment and for logistics to ensure readiness. She also gave directive on the strengthened communication and response procedures of the Response Cluster.
The governor expressed appreciation to the team saying, "I'd like to commend our PDRRMO, na pagdating sa mga ganitong bagay, lagi kayong on the ground kung magtrabaho. So others may live, katulad nga ng lagi nating sinasabi dito." Gov. Rafy finally instructed the team to send advance deployments in the grounds and not wait for disaster to happen.
The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the province along with all the EOCs of the component local government units were all activated for open communication. Continuous incident monitoring is being conducted by the PDRRMO in all 20 component LGUs in the province through 911 Public Safety Answering Points while Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis was simultaneously done.
As per report, equipment, vehicles, drivers and utility personnel are on standby for possible deployment. Food items and survival kits are also ready for augmentation.
Also present in the meeting were Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chairperson on Disaster Preparedness and Management and Relief Services Board Member Gerard Ostrea; and Department Heads of PDRRMC Response Cluster.
