As the province continues to be under Red Alert Status, the Provincial Government of La Union undertakes disaster preparedness measures as it bolsters itself against #PaengPH and to ensure safety and security of tourists and Kaprobinsiaan during the celebration of Surfing Break 2022 and observance of Undas 2022.

Gov. Rafy Ortega-David specifically gave instructions on the readiness to activate evacuation sites and to prepare for evacuation; to inspect heavy equipment and to ensure that all rescue vehicles are on full tank for immediate deployment if needed; food and shelter provisions ready for distribution if local government units (LGUs) need augmentation.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) started to be on Red Alert Status by virtue of Memorandum Order No. 45, s. 2022 issued on October 25, 2022. This memo directs the PDRRMO to initiate critical preparedness actions, thus the conduct of a Pre-Disaster Rapid Assessment on October 28, 2022 with partner agencies such as the Provincial Health Office, Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, Philippine Coast Guard, La Union Provincial Police Office, Philippine Army and the LGUs.

With #PaengPH continuing in its course westward, the PDDRMO has activated its Incident Command System at the La Union Peace, Order and Safety - Emergency Operations Center (LUPOS-EOC), Barangay Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union. Furthermore, logistics needed for disaster operations such as rescue vehicles and equipment, ambulance, food and non-food items for possible relief operations, and manpower are pre-positioned at the EOC. Continuous roving operations at the LGU level are being conducted for monitoring.
