Recognizing their heroic acts and their valuable role to the communities and in the agricultural sector, two farmers and a fisherman from the Province of La Union dominates the recently concluded Kapitan Kress Bayaning Mangingisda at Bayaning Magsasaka Search 2022 after being proclaimed as winners during the awarding ceremony held at Sobel Hotel in Caloocan City on May 24, 2022.
Under the Bayaning Mangingisda category, Rolando Rabang, a hero fisherfolk from Bacnotan, La Union was hailed as Grand Winner while Rolando Rocapor and Marites Mamuyac, both hero farmers from Rosario and Agoo garnered 2nd and 3rd runner up respectively under the Bayaning Magsasaka category. Winners from both categories received a cash prize, trophy and machineries while the Office of the Provincial Agriculture will also receive a prize.
The Province bagged back to back win this year under the Bayaning Mangingisda category after Rabang tops the nationwide search as fisherfolk leader Dante Noces from Balaoan, La Union emerged victorious in the said search last year.
In his message, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III acknowledged the roles and dedication of the farmers and fisherfolks that has contributed in the development and in line with the vision of the Province to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 . โOur farmers and fisherfolks have consistently been our partners and primary players in improving the agricultural status in the province. Thank you for you have remained aggressive in your commitment and dedication for the realization of our agricultural objectives.โ
The nationwide competition, organized and spearheaded by JGO Ventures Corporation together with Kress Philippines, aims to recognize the valor, dedication and selfless contributions of Filipino farmers and fisherfolks to their communities towards agricultural development of the country for others to exemplify and may draw inspiration from.
