Driven by passion to provide excellent and impactful service for sustainable tourism, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David was conferred with six Pearl Awards by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, Inc., in partnership with the Department of Tourism for its exceptional practices, projects and innovations.

The said award-giving-body recognizes people in the tourism industry, most especially the Local Government Units for best tourism practices. Furthermore, this celebrates the championed initiatives in the tourism industry that every locality is doing and contributing to the society at large.

Fresh from its feat, on October 27, 2022 during the 23rd National Tourism Convention at Tagaytay City, Provincial Tourism Officer Mr. Arthur S. Cortez Jr. received six of the most coveted awards for DOT-ATOP Pearl Awards namely, Grand Winner for Bannuarmi Music Video as Best Tourism Promotion Videos; 1st Runner-Up for Around La Union Travel Guide as Best Tourism Promotion Publication; 2nd Runner up for Green Tourism Enterprises Program as Best Practices in Responsible Tourism for Community-Based Tourism Enterprise and/or Service; 2nd Runner up for Tawid Taoid: Bridging Art and Nature, Building Sustainable Future as Best Program for Culture and Arts; Special Citation for Ayat Festival as Best Tourism Event Festival category (As a Contemporary Non-Traditional Expression); and lastly, Special Citation for La Union Agri-Tourism Circuits as Best Tourism Integrated Routes. The recognized programs, projects and activities for tourism were initiated during the term of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III.

These recognitions are testaments that PGLU remained true to its Vision of being the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 and has continued to establish programs for tourism recovery despite the hurdles brought by the pandemic. It further highlights the creative works and exceptional services of tourism stakeholders and industry leaders in the province.

Indeed, La Union is committed in strengthening the tourism industry through strategic leadership and #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan where adaptability and optimism prevails.
