As the three quarters of La Union Tourism conclude, the La Union Tourism Development Council held its 3rd Quarter Meeting on October 14, 2022, at the Old SP Conference Room, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union, for further evaluation and development.
On behalf of the La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chair on Tourism Hon. Geraldine Joy R. Ortega presided the council meeting. Legislative counterparts were also present in the said meeting representing Committees on Health, Finance, Budget, and Appropriation, Peace and Order and Public Safety, Environment and Human Ecology and Security. Members of the LUTDC were also in attendance, namely, Ms. Irish Dominque Halabaso (City of San Fernando); Ms. Sunshine Dela Cruz (Agoo); Ms. Rowena Balangue (Aringay); Ms. Mae Oblero (Balaoan); Ms. Daisy Sayangda (Bauang); SBM Badbadaoi (Bagulin); Mr. Rodrigo Sarmiento (Bangar); Mr. Richard Rimando (Burgos); Ms. Cheressa Lamtocon (Bacnotan); Mr. Tito Gorospe (Luna); Mr. Jino Banana (Naguilian); Mr. Teddy Buma-A (Pugo); Ms. Mercedita Diaz (Rosario); Mr. Kiel Lanuzo (San Juan); Mr. Daryl Dacumos (San Gabriel); Mr. Roel Lachica (Santo Tomas); Mr. Gilbert Del Moral (Sudipen); Mr. Carlito Estal (Tubao); Mr. Ed Regala (LUATTA); Ms. Tina Antonio (SJHRRASS); Ms. Yvette Capiral (ATIN-LU); Ms. Randall Brioso (ASTG-LU); and the La Union Provincial Tourism Office Secretariat.
The Comprehensive La Union Tourism Resources Database and Monthly Tourist Arrival Report were thoroughly discussed by Mr. Arthur S. Cortez, Jr., Provincial Tourism Officer where he highlighted relevant data on tourist attractions, local products, events and festivities, accommodation establishments, food establishments, travel and tour agencies, and farm tourism establishments. Essentially, he conveyed that there is a consistent and significant increase in tourist arrivals and tourism receipts for the previous quarters. Meanwhile, Mr. Minoru C. Fujihara, Tourism Operations Officer I, also presented the La Union Wonders and Adventure Visitor Experience Survey (LU WAVES). The result shows that the major market of tourists are young adults who come from Metro Manila and that they were satisfied with their La Union trip.
Thereafter, to keep the council on-board, Mr. Hanzel D. Guerrero, Jr., Senior Tourism Operations Officer, presented the updated Provincial Tourism Development Plan. Mr. Guerrero highlighted the La Union Tourism timeline of activities and the inclusion of the Branding and Marketing Plan as an important facet in the overall development of the tourism industry to ensure everyoneโs involvement in making La Union a province worth living in.
