Empowering the youth in strengthening advocacies for sustainable environment and transformative governance, youth leaders from the First District of La Union actively participated in the LIVE TO LEAD seminar held at the Ortega Marine Educational Center, Brgy. Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union on September 1, 2022.
As part of the Governorโs P.U.S.O. Agenda, the conduct of the three-day activity equipped the 18 participants with valuable knowledge and insights through a jampacked lecture and training centered on Youth Development Service Providers; Adolescent Health and Development; Youth Environmental Outreach; and Youth Environmental Approach. Among the timely topics discussed include Role of Youth Development Officers in Youth Development; Interpersonal Communication and Counseling on Gender and Development; Teenage Pregnancy and Sexuality; Human Environment Transformation; Water Quality Management; Coastal Resources Management; Responsible Mining; and more.
The event spearheaded by the Provincial Government of La Union, through the collaborative efforts of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation headed by Hon. Alyssa Kristine Sibuma Provincial Federation President; Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office; Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office-Provincial Youth Development; and Provincial Health Office, aims to empower the youth through leadership programs and strengthen youth engagement in environmental advocacies as driving force to promote and support environmental conservation and sustainability.
The activity concluded with meaningful environmental activities which include Mangrove Planting at Brgy. Pila, Luna; Coastal Clean Up and Study tour at DMMMSU-FRTI, Snorkeling, Sea garden and Lagoon ecotour in Immuki Island in Balaoan.
In a message delivered by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, she acknowledged the vital role of youth in nation building and recognized the significance of the activity as she commits her full support in more youth development initiatives and programs for the province.
โSa ating pagsusulong ng mga programang mag-aangat ng antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kaprobinsiaan, hindi natin nakakalimutan ang sektor ng kabataan. Sa muling pagbangon ng ating probinsya mula sa mga epekto ng pandemya, kayo ay aming naging kaagapay kaya't ating isusulong ang mga oportunidad para sa inyo dahil naniniwala kami sa inyong kakayahan,โ the Governor emphasized.
Furthermore, Gov. Rafy also expressed her passion and enthusiasm towards building a sustainable environment through intensifying the #KalikasanNaman campaign as response to the call for immediate action to preserve and protect nature in the province.
With the strength of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, the PGLU remains committed for relentless service through developing relevant programs and projects that will create opportunities and illuminate a promising future to every youth in the province which is imperative in the continuous building of a #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in.
