The Saint Louis College (SLC) Chorale representing the Province of La Union emerged as the Champion in the recently concluded 2022 Region 1 Tertiary Chorale Competition held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Open University.
The competition is one of the major activities for the celebration of the 2nd National Higher Education Day, and the 28th Founding Anniversary of Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).
Performing the contest piece βCHEd Hymnβ composed by Dr. Joseph βSonnyβ Cristobal, and arranged by Mr. Arnel del Rosario, SLC Chorale outclassed three other choirs from provinces of Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan. Their choice piece βVision of the Sunsetβ by Ms. Normita Bing Rio-Pablico encapsulates the very essence of quality education and their institutionβs noble mission to be the βBeacon of Wisdom in the Northβ.
The Board of Judges include Germany Music composer Ralph Hoffman, and UP College of Music Associate Professor Dr. Arwin Tan.
Formed in 2011 and trained by choir conductor Ms. Marinol Ylagan-Padilla, the chorale group from La Union have been consistently winning regional competitions for the past four years.
