In celebration of the National Tour Guides Day, the Association of Active Tour Guides of La Union (AsTG-LU) in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union, Department of Tourism β Region 1, Tourism Promotions Board and La Union Vibrant Riders hosted a Familiarization Tour on June 19, 2022 participated in by 50 local motor riders. The activity also kicked-off Philippine Motorcycle Tourism in the province.
The familiarization tour started at the Poro Point Baywalk. Tour guides were also present during the event to provide tour assistance to the participants. Top Allan in Sudipen, Bilagan Road of Santol and Baluarte Watch Tower in Luna were the destinations visited during the event.
The activity aims to rebuild the confidence of the traveling public and eventually for the tourism industry to bounce back from the negative impact of the pandemic. It also seeks to revitalize the travel experience under the new normal and allow tourists to discover more of La Union. It also taps motor riders as domestic tourism ambassadors who will help promote La Union as a fun, diverse and safe destination to travel.
The activity was graced by Mr. Arthur S. Cortez, Jr., Provincial Tourism Officer; Mr. Xavier B. Mercardo, President of Region 1 Tour Guides Association; Mr. Enrico Ramos, President of La Union Vibrant Riders; and officers and members of the AsTG-LU.
