Advocating sustainable Tourism, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) and Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) relaunched the Green Tourism Enterprises Program (GTEP) for its 2nd year. In celebration of World Tourism Day, on September 28, 2022, at the Old SP Conference Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union, out of 121 endorsed enterprises from the 12 LGUs, the Bougainvillea Seal of Compliance was awarded to the 20 eligible establishments in the province of La Union.
San Juan had the highest number of awardees with 50% (10 out of 20), followed by the municipality of Bauang with 20% (4 out of 20), the City of San Fernando at 15% (3 out of 20), and 5% (1 out of 20) each from the municipalities of Pugo, Naguilian, and Sudipen. Specifically, the accommodation and food establishments that were awarded are as follows, Jorisan Waterfront Resort, Lafaayette Luxury Suites, Aureo La Union, Sunset Bay, Karruba Resort, K3Mm Corporation, Awesome Hotel, Inc., Balai Norte Hortels And Resorts Corporation, Bonita Beach Resort Management Ltd.Co., ChillโN Hotel, Ciabel Hotel And Fitness Center Corporation, P And M Final Option Beach Resort, San Juan Surf Center Property Development Corporation, Sunset German Beach Resort & Restaurant, Villa DโEl-Lita Hotel Resort And Restaurant, Lomboy Farms, J.F.C. Agricultural Farm, Uvas Cafรฉ, Hiraya Sunset Hill Restaurant, Papa CโS Sizzlers And Luckies Wine & Spirits.
The said awarding was graced by Mr. Justo H. Orros III, Executive Assistant IV, representing Governor Rafy Ortega-David, by Mr. Arthur S. Cortez Jr., LUPTO Department Head and Ms. Shereal Maala-Catbagan, EnP., Senior Environmental Management Specialist representing Ms. Annalyn Rosario-Valdez, EnP. OIC - PG-ENRO. Awardees, tourism stakeholders and partners were also present in the said program.
This program serves as the reinforcement to continuously recognize the efforts of the Tourism Establishments in the Province in compliance to the minimum health standards and green tourism initiatives. Underscoring the significance of environmental conservation and elevate the safety standards and accelerate tourism recovery, this program promotes responsible tourism that is community-driven and geared towards #LaUnionProbinsyanihan.
