The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Governor Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David virtually attended the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) Executive Committee (EXCOM) Meeting 2022 on November 1, 2022.
Hosted by Kampala Capital City Authority, this yearโs WeGO EXCOM was held under the theme, โResilience in the Face of Adversity: Smart Cities as Engines for Social Economic Transformation,โ which highlights opportunities and insights on the measures to develop agile cities as well as the key roles of citizens as contributors in the creation of a โsmart city.โ
La Union being a WeGO member, Gov. Rafy was given a privilege to deliver a Congratulatory Remark alongside Makati Mayor Mar-len Abigail S. Binay, and Wellington, New Zealand Mayor Tory Whanau. Gov. Rafy mentioned how the previous provincial administration led by immediate past Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III maximized the advantages of being a WeGO member and how La Union felt the organizationโs role in fostering the province overcome and recover in the challenges brought by the pandemic. She likewise mentioned that La Union shall continue to maximize its technological potentials with a hope of developing innovative e-services that would improve the quality of life of the people.
โI am hoping that this will rekindle our commitments to innovate in the delivery of public services leveraging digital technology and connectivity to improve the quality of life of our people,โ Gov. Rafy said.
La Unionโs membership to WeGo is one of the measures towards the attainment of the vision for La Union to become the Heart of Agri-tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, which promotes #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan as it aims to uplift the lives of the kaprobinsiahan.
