In pursuit of providing a transformative plan for tourism development in La Union, on August 10, 2022, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) led by Governor Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David, convened tourism stakeholders and partners for possible forthcoming tourism projects and initiatives in her office at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Present during the said meeting were Department of Tourism โ 1 Regional Director Joseph Francisco Ortega; Mr. Arthur S. Cortez, Jr., Provincial Tourism Officer; Ms. Michaela Louise Delfinado, Provincial Planning and Development Officer; Engr. Ressie Estrella, Provincial Engineer; Atty. Melissa Tagarda and Mr. Tony Reyes of San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure.
Strong partnerships ignite marketing development that provides greater strength, unity, and leveraged results compared to individual efforts. The PGLU aims to go beyond the traditional marketing partnerships and instead bring in dynamic partners from different industries to maximize impact on sustainable and responsive tourism.
In accordance to this, tourism programs and initiatives in La Union were discussed by Mr. Cortez. Essentially, as part of the first 100 days of Gov. Rafy, the projects that were proposed to be in partnership with San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure were further elaborated, such as, the establishment of a Tourist Assistance Center, Installation of Promotional Materials in TPLEX and the development and beautification of the TPLEX Rotunda.
Likewise, Ms. Delfinado presented various infrastructure programs of the PGLU that can be realized in partnership with San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure. She also highlighted the goal to establish a Sports Complex in La Union that will encourage not only sports related activities and but also tourism events per se.
More so, Regional Director Ortega underscored the upcoming projects and activities that San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure could assist with, such as, the provision of surfboards to Surf Schools, establishment of a One Stop Shop Tourist Assistance Center and the conduct of the National Surfing Summit.
Gov. Rafy aired her gratitude to the Department of Tourism and San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure for their time and courtesy to visit La Union for the said meeting. She emphasized the importance of leveraging resources, expertise, and partnerships for mutual benefit. Indeed, #LaUnionProbinsyanihan continues to create synergies for a #StrongerLaUnion.
