In an effort to educate its employees and staff on life saving techniques and first aid, Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) under the leadership of Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan, Chief of Hospital and Dr. Jennifer Gamiao, Safety Officer, organized series of training on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) to attain one hundred percent BLS-SFA trained employees by December 2022.

A total of sixty five (65) employees attended the training facilitated by the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Office from April 2022 – May 2022. Among the topics discussed were bandaging, spine board management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, burns, poisoning and choking. The employees actively participated in the different activities during the training.

Accidents happen everyday. The skills and knowledge acquired from the above training are very timely as this brings significant improvement in the involvement of ordinary healthcare workers to provide immediate and appropriate response during emergencies to stabilize patients until proper medical services arrive. Being able to secure the victim at the scene is important to ensure that any injury do not worsen.

The hospital hopes to complete the training of the remaining sixty one (61) employees by August 2022.
