With La Unionโs diverse and rich natural resources, every kaprobinsiaan needs to be involved in its sustainability and preservation, hence, permit holders from the Sand and Gravel Industry of the province joined the LGU-Issued Permit Holders General Assembly that allowed them to be part of the realization of La Unionโs vision being the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
On December 10, 2022, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) and Provincial Treasury Office (PTO) in partnership with the different National Government Agencies (NGA) held the first LGU-Issued Permit Holders General Assembly at Villa DโElita in Sudipen, La Union.
Attended by owners and representatives of Sand and Gravel businesses, the said assembly is an avenue to promote responsible mining in the province and to recognize their roles in attaining La Unionโs 2025 vision as they have significantly contributed to the socio-economic development and progress of the province.
For a better understanding of the event, Engr. Rommilyn V. Torio of PG-ENRO briefly described its importance and impact on our kaprobinsiaan. Speakers from the partner NGAs were also invited to present related topics that can encourage participants to support initiatives that widely promote responsible mining in the province.
Board Member Victor I. Rivera, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Ways and Means also graced the activity and expressed his gratitude to all the responsible permit holders for their valuable support in the progress of La Union.
In her message read by PG-ENRO Officer-in-Charge Annalyn Rosario-Valdez, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David likewise conveyed her support to the participants of the said assembly. She also encouraged them to protect the provinceโs natural resources by joining #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
โIt is truly significant to protect our homes, the areas that we freely live in, for us to achieve our individual goals and our collective vision for the future of our children and grandchildren. This, we cannot do alone; I cannot do alone. I ask everyone to join our province as we heed our call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan. I encourage you to join hands; unite; to come together; as we continue to serve the people by reinforcing responsible mining and peaceful interaction with our environment," Gov. Rafy's message.
The PGLU continues to encourage kaprobinsiaan to be involved in the #KalikasanNaman campaign and be responsible investors as the provinceโs rich and diverse natural resources are among the assets of La Union in becoming the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon.
