Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David assured to uphold the welfare and interest of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the province by giving them equal opportunities and support in the mainstream society during the celebration of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week held on July 19, 2022 at the Municipal Hall of Bagulin, La Union.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) spearheaded an activity attended by 60 members of the Pederasyon ng May Kapansanan ng La Union (PMKLU) from the 20 Local Government Units (LGU) of the province.
The activity became a platform for the PSWDO and PMKLU to raise PWD awareness to the kaprobinsiaan and encourage them to take active responsibility in uplifting the economic and social conditions of PWDs in the society. An open forum and sharing of LGUโs PWD best practices were conducted during the said activity.
PMKLU members also enjoyed the singing contest and indoor games prepared for them by the PSWDO.
Among the guests who graced the activity with their inspiring messages were Executive Assistant IV Justo "Tito" Orros III representing Gov. Rafy, Board Member Maria Annabelle De Guzman, Mayor Virgio C. Flor, Vice-Mayor Jaime A. Lictao, and Bagulin PWD President George Abando.
The Provincial Government of La Union shall continue to uphold the rights and welfare of the PWDs and ensure that the province of La Union is for everyone and that it is truly inclusive.
