To commemorate the birth of the Father of the Philippine Revolution, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) officials and concerned offices led the offering of the wreath in the monument of Andres Bonifacio on November 30, 2021, at the Heroes Park, City of San Fernando, La Union. Facilitated by the La Union Provincial Tourism Office β Culture and Arts Section, the ceremony was attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Hon. Nancy Corazon N. Bacurnay, Hon. Jonathan Justo A. Orros, Hon. Maria Rosario Eufrosina P. Nisce, Hon. Geraldine R. Ortega and Hon. Alyzza Kristine B. Sibuma.
A native of Tondo, Manila, Bonifacio joined several movements such as the Masonry and La Liga Filipina. As the Supremo, he established the Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galang na Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or the Katipunan to unite and lead the Filipinos to freedom from the colonizers through a revolution. He kicked off the revolt by leading thousands of his followers to tear up their cedulas and personally led an attack on San Juan Del Monte to capture its powder magazines and water stations.
With the theme βBonifacio 2021: Pagbubuklod para sa Kaligtasan at Kalusugan ng Bayanβ, the PGLU joins the whole nation in remembering the example, life and valor of Bonifacio.
