The Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC) and Board Member Gerard G. Ostrea, Chairperson of the Committee on Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), convened on July 15, 2022 to discuss the peace and security related programs of the Province.
During the said meeting, PPDC Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, discussed the reorganization of the three special bodies under POPS which include the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (LUADAC) and the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC). As per Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular Nos. 2019-143, 2018-01, and 2019-125, the Peace and Order Council, Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC), and End Local Communist Armed Conflict ELCAC) will be chaired by Governor Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David.
Moreover, some of the POPS-related plans and programs for the Province were also tackled during the meeting such as the Crime and Fire Prevention, Disaster Preparedness Strategies, and Enhancement of Tourism Security to ensure the safety of tourists, among others. The Provincial Government of La Union, through the PPOC, La Union ADAC, and Provincial task Force-ELCAC will continue to forge ties to ensure peace, order, and safety of its constituents for a stronger #LaUnionProbinsyanihan
Also present during the meeting were EnP Darius Leo A. Cargamento, Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, EnP Julie Ann A. Arciaga, OPPDC-POPS Secretariat, and Ms. Christine Joy B. Julio of the SP.
