As one of the finalists for 2021 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Units, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โPacoyโ R. Ortega III virtually presented the province's bid to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) for the final judging today, October 7, 2021.
Gov. Pacoy presented the province's significant initiatives and programs to address the major challenges and the disruption caused by the CoViD-19 in order to mitigate the negative impacts and successfully restore and increase the business operations within the province amidst the pandemic. The governance tools and innovative systems which are part of the culture of the governance in La Union were discussed during the final judging.
With the theme, โLGUโs Innovative Response for the Recovery and Growth of Business,โ Gov. Pacoy further emphasized the initiatives of the PGLU such as employment opportunities; avenues for local enterprise and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to reach wider markets and generate greater income; infrastructures that support health and safety while also fostering local businesses and partnership with public and private sectors to attain sustainable development. โWithout a doubt, a balance between response, recovery, and local economic development is the key to establishing a #StrongerLaUnion, a province worth living in,โ Gov Pacoy said.
The Governor was joined by Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento; Office of the Provincial Strategy Asst. Chief Noemi R. Jucar; Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaella Louise T. Delfinado; Provincial Information Officer Adamor L. Dagang; Senior Agriculturist Rosemarie P. Garcia representing Provincial Agriculturist Ramon Laudencia III; Provincial Treasurer Janet D. Molina; and Acting Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Julius Manabat representing Provincial Tourism OIC Arthur S. Cortez, Jr.
The Most Business Friendly Award submission of La Union was spearheaded by the Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit headed by Ms. Charito C. Dator. The announcement and Conferment of the Award will be done during the 47th Philippine Business Conference on November 18, 2021.
