Following the damage left by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm #MaringPH, La Union is now declared under State of Calamity by virtue of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 1413-2021 (bit.ly/LU-Res1413-2021), "Declaring a State of Calamity in the Province of La Union due to Destruction and Loss of Livestocks, Agricultural Products and Infrastructures Brought About by Severe Tropical Storm 'Maring' and for other purposes."

As of October 14, 2021 Initial Damage Report of Typhoon Maring in La Union, 259 Barangays, 38,812 families, 135,881 persons and 4,263 houses were affected. According to the same report, two people were injured, three missing, and no death.

A total of P369,269,389.17 worth of agricultural products were damaged including rice, corn, vegetables, and fisheries. Livestock damage including carabao, cattle, chicken, duck, fighting cock, goat, sheep, swine and turkey is worth P5,157,110.00.

Initial Infrastructure Damage Report shows P63,125,000.00 worth of damage on 17 roads. Initial Damages on 14 Agri-infra projects costs P48,600.00 as per initial report.

Continuous recovery efforts such as relief operations, infrastructure restoration, road clearing, donation drives and damage assessment for possible aid continues to be conducted by concerned Provincial Government of La Union offices. A total of 18,998 relief packs were distributed in highly-affected areas.

Private and public sectors also came together to extend help to those who are badly affected. The La Union Agri-Tourism Center continues to accept monetary and in-kind donations from 8AM-5PM daily including weekends.
