The Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office, together with the partner local government units (LGUs) conducted an ambient air quality sampling in the monitoring stations in Bacnotan Farmersβ Park and Civic Center and Bauang Town Plaza.
The ambient air quality sampling was done using the PQ200 Manual Particulate Sampler of the Provincial Government. The Department of the Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau Region gave their assistance in the activity.
The test sampling runs from midnight to midnight which complies with United States Environmental Protection Agency requirement for 24-hours sampling. The equipment can monitor the particulate matter with 2.5 concentration in the monitoring stations.
The result of the sampling will serve as baseline data for the establishment of the Air Quality Index in the Province. Furthermore, the results will be forwarded to the partner LGUs for their basis on possible environmental programs or for crafting of municipal ordinance geared towards air quality management in the province.
