Following Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-Davidโs P.U.S.O. Agenda on the Orderly, Sustainable, and Resilient Component LGUs and Barangays, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) together with all the Local DRRM Officers from the 20 component Local Government Units (LGU) of the La Union, convened for a courtesy call and meeting with the lady governor on July 19, 2022 at the La Union Peace, Order and Safety (LUPOS) Emergency Operation Center Building.
One agenda discussed during the said meeting was the proposal for the re-organization and accreditation of the existing association for Local DRRM Officers. Approving the said proposal, Gov. Rafy committed to conduct capacity-building programs for LGUs on Disaster Risk Reduction and Medical Training Courses during her first 100 days. This will result in producing able trainers and accreditation of Community Disaster Volunteer Groups in the province.
Gov. Rafy also mentioned that one of her priorities is to push for the empowerment of PDDRMO and Local DRRMOs by upgrading and improving their Radio Communication Systems and Wireless Connectivity to be used for disaster and emergency response.
On the other hand, the PDRRMO provided Gov. Rafy an update on the Disaster Resilient Caravan for Indigenous People which kicked off on July 13, 2022 in Pugo, La Union. The caravan is their commitment to the Governorโs call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan for a resilient province.
Promulgation of the 24/7 Operability of all Local DRRM Emergency Operation Centers in the province was also addressed during the meeting.
With the strong #PROBINSYAnihan of the Provincial Government of La Union and the PDRRMO and Local DRRMOs, the province is optimistic in achieving a Disaster Resilient Community which is essential in building a #StrongerLaUnion.
