Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David immediately intervened to fast track the installment of PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS) of the Department of Science and Technology - Region 1 Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) in the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Building, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union on October 27, 2022 in response to kaprobinsiaan's clamor.
โSa Lakas ng lindol nabura na sa mapa ang La Union." โLa Union left the group." โGuni-guni lang natin โyung lindol.โ These are just some of the comments of kaprobinsiaan monitored through intensive social listening of the Provincial Government of La Union in the recent occurrences of earthquakes where the Province of La Union was not included in Intensity Reports.
In the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, DOST-PHIVOLS installed the PEIS to ensure that real time and more accurate earthquake intensity will be reported and disseminated to kaprobinsiaan. Further, there will be more PEIS to be installed in the different component local government units in La Union for better measurement of earthquake intensity.
