PGLU STRENGTHENS STATISTICAL DEVELOPMENT FOR CY 2023; APPROVES FOUR STATISTICS RESOLUTION

Committed to support the Provincial Government of La Union's data-evidence based governance, the Provincial Statistics Committee held its first quarter regular meeting for CY 2023 on February 10, 2023 via zoom.

Among the agenda tackled includes the Vital Statistics of the Province; Activities for the 33rd Civil Registration Month Celebration; Updates on the Philippine Identification System: ePhilID Implementation; Overview of the Survey on Costs and Returns, Overview of the Crops Production Survey; Agricultural Statistics; January 2023 Summary Inflation Report in La Union; and the Statistics of the Department of Labor and Employment La Union's Accomplishments.

As a result of the said meeting, the Committee approved four resolutions entitled, "Enjoining Provincial Line Agencies, Local Government Units, Academic Institutions and the Private Sector to Support the 33rd Civil Registration Month Celebration"; "Enjoining Provincial Line Agencies, Local Government Units, Academic Institutions and the Private Sector to Support the PhilSys ePhilID"; "Enjoining Provincial Line Agencies, Local Government Units, Academic Institutions and the Private Sector to Support the Conduct of the Survey on Cost and Returns of Palay Production"; and "Enjoining Provincial Line Agencies, Local Government Units, Academic Institutions and the Private Sector to Support the Conduct of the Crops Production Survey in La Union".

Present during the meeting were representatives from member agencies' provincial and regional line including Philippine Statistics Authority, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and Department of Labor and Employment. Concerned PGLU Offices and private sector through the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. were also well represented during the meeting.

With the development of their programs, plans and activities for the province for 2023, the committee continues to exhibit their support Gov. Raphaelle β€œRafy” Ortega-David's data driven governance as a contribution to the call for La Union Probinsyanihan and for the realization of the province’s vision to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism of the North by 2025.
