A 30-feet fiber reinforced plastic patrol boat was awarded to the Provincial Government of La Union on March 30, 2022 at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus (DMMMSU - NLUC) – Fisheries Research Training Institute (FRTI), Brgy. Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union. The said patrol boat was the output from the 9-day training on patrol boat making facilitated by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs - US Department of State and DMMMSU-NLUC.

During the awarding ceremony, Atty. Asis G. Perez, Senior Legal Adviser of Tanggol Kalikasan Inc. and concurrently the in-country representative of the US Department of Interior International Technical Assistance Program - US Department of State delivered the rationale and objectives of the activity. The awarded patrol boat will boost the enforcement of ordinances and laws on coastal resources management. Dir. Kelia Cummins, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs - US Department of State gave the turn-over message of the mold and boat followed by acceptance message from Hon. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega, III represented by Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento and Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, DMMMSU President. Chief Aquaculturist Remely B. Lachica of the Fisheries Production and Support Services Division, Department of Agriculture - Bureau Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 1 and Department of the Interior and Local Government – La Union Provincial Director Reggie R. Colisao also gave a message during the awarding ceremony.

Representatives from the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Engineering Office, and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist participated in the 9-day training on fiber reinforced plastic patrol boat on February 22 – 30, 2022 at the DMMMSU-NLUC – FRTI, Brgy. Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union.
