As the province of La Union continues to be recognized as one of the best tourist destinations in Northern Luzon, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) constantly develops potential and emerging tourist attractions allowing tourists to experience something new. Hence, the PGLU together with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bauang entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to harness the full potential of Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park as a new eco-tourism site in the province.

After the completion of the PGLU-funded project Bakawan Boardwalk and Multi-Purpose Building, on February 28, 2023, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica β€œRafy” Ortega-David and Bauang Mayor Martin De Guzman signed an MOU that aims to provide support and give opportunities to improve the lives of kaprobinsiaan living near the Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park.

In her message, Gov. Rafy expressed her excitement for the project and challenged the kaprobinsiaan to step up in saving the environment.

β€œI am very excited about this endeavor as this speaks of our collaboration for the continued preservation of the harmony between our community and the environment of La Union. We encourage all people of Bauang and all of our Kaprobinsiaan to be with us in maintaining a healthy ecology where our children and the future generation can live freely,” Gov. said.

The MOU and the Blessing and Inauguration of Boardwalk and Multi-Purpose Building are stepping stones for the province to encourage all kaprobinsiaan to join together and heed the call for #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihanβ€” a vital factor to achieve the vision of the province which is to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
