In celebration of International Women's Day, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), led by its first female Governor, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica βRafyβ Ortega-David, through the Provincial Government of La Union- Environment and Natural Resources Office, conducted a coastal clean-up drive participated by lady divers and personnel on March 8, 2023, in Brgy. San Vicente, City of San Fernando, La Union.
This year's women's day theme "We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society" is a call for every kaprobinsiaan, not just women, to unite under the act of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
The activity was also participated by personnel of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, San Vicente Barangay Council, and Philippine Coast Guard. The activity was developed to forge awareness on environmental conservation and preservation while also empowering the rights and capabilities of women in terms of taking care of the environment. About 15 kilograms of waste materials were collected and disposed of at the City of San Fernando Sanitary Landfill Facility.
As La Union also emphasized #KalikasanNaman, Gov. Rafy and PGLU celebrate women's key roles and achievements in ensuring environmental sustainability and remain steadfast in elevating women's visibility in various workplaces where women can thrive and forge positive changes.
