โI challenge all of us to level up our public service and to also level up in upholding peace and order in our respective provinces and in the entire region. Be assured, my fellow Peace and Order Council members, that our joint forces are strong and that together, we will remain united in purpose, and that is to protect the freedom and liberty of everyone here in Region 1,โ stated Gov. Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David who officially took oath as the new chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) Region 1 as she presided the first quarter meeting today, March 23, 2023 at the Ariana Hotel in Bauang, La Union.

Being a champion of women empowerment, Gov. Rafy committed to continue to prioritize anti- violence against women and children programs. She also would like to raise proper awareness on threats to the lives of public officials as she deems it essential for everyone to feel safe including public officials. Finally, she expressed support of RPOC to the national governmentโs Buhay Ingatan, Drogaโy Ayawan or BIDA Campaign against illegal drugs which is also a reflection of her call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan.
Among the discussions in the meeting were targets for 2023 and accomplishments for the first quarter of 2023 under Anti-Criminality, Anti-Illegal Drugs, and Anti-Insurgency. The reorganization of the RPOC 1 Audit Team for 2022 Performance Audit; Creation RPOC 1 Special Action Committee; and Organizational Structure of the RPOC Secretariat were also tackled.
Following the assumption of new RPOC leadership, it is expected to see new programs under the different facets of peace, order and security that are prerequisites to achieving set goals of the province and the region.
