The Young Meets the Old!
La Union shares best practices with Apayao Province

Being older by more than a hundred and forty-five years, La Union was the preferred partner of the Provincial Treasury Office of Apayao Province for their benchmarking activity on June 1, 2023 as they are considered as one of the youngest provinces in Northern Luzon while La Union is one of the oldest.
Headed by Acting Provincial Treasurer Ms. Wilma K. Ikitan, the delegates were welcomed by the Provincial Government of La Union’s (PGLU’s) Provincial Treasury Office spearheaded by Provincial Treasurer Ms. Janet D. Molina. The group also paid a courtesy call to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David and had a capitol tour learning about the La Union’s rich history courtesy of the La Union Provincial Tourism Office.
During the benchmarking activity, Ms. Molina gave an overview and important details about the province and tackled La Union’s Governance Road Map. The Heads of the different Units of the Treasurer's Office also shared the best practices of PGLU like Regular Amendment of the Local Revenue Code, Deployment and Deputation of Provincial Tax Collectors (Field Collectors), and the systems used by the office such eResibo, Cash Unit’s Cashiering System, PGLU Workspace, and Data Tracking System. Other strategic activities for revenue generation were also discussed.
After which, they had the chance to visit some of La Union’s tourist destinations such as the De Castro’s Loom Weaving in Bangar where they met some of the province’s oldest Abel weavers and witnessed them do their craft. They went around Luna’s Watch Tower, the Shrine of Our Lady of Namacpacan, and the famous man-made forest.
The Province of Apayao delegates expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome, hospitality, and the learnings they brought home. The PGLU is committed in improving its services for the people through exchange of best practices with other local government units and agencies.
