Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Nancy Bacurnay authors Ordinance requiring motorcycle, tricycle and bicycle drivers to wear high visibility vest while travelling along the National Highway and in all roads within the province from 6:00 in the evening to 6:00 in the morning and during heavy rains or typhoons.

BM Bacurnay says that as per La Union Police records, there are 1,023 motorcycle and 659 motor tricycle related accidents in the Province from 2016 to August 7, 2017. She said that accidents were mostly caused by poor road visibility. Most of the drivers of private vehicles, trucks and public utility vehicles barely notice the motorcycle, tricycle and bicycle drivers. Hence, there is a need to wear high visibility vests.

Ordinance No. 132-2018 was approved by SP on June 13, 2018.

Said Ordinance aims to protect motorcycle, tricycle drivers and possible reduce accident that results to physical injuries and loss of lives and property of the people.
