PGLU Commemorates National Flag Day, Diego Silang Day in Solemn Ceremony

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) joined the nation in commemorating the National Flag Day and Diego Silang Day through a solemn flag-raising ceremony held at the Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union on May 28, 2025.
PGLU employees gathered to pay tribute to the Philippine flag as a symbol of freedom, unity, and national pride. Among those present were Board Member Cynthia Angelica Bacurnay, Department Heads, and Chiefs of Hospitals, who stood in solidarity with the employees in honoring the Philippine flag.
In La Union, this date also coincides with the celebration of Diego Silang Day, in honor of the Ilocano revolutionary hero who led a courageous resistance against Spanish colonial rule in Northern Luzon.
The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder of the province’s commitment to keeping the spirit of patriotism alive, and to honoring the sacrifices of Filipino heroes who paved the way for the freedoms enjoyed today.
Through the celebration, the PGLU, led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, reaffirms its commitment to nationalism and historical awareness, honoring the past while inspiring future generations to uphold the legacy of heroism and civic duty.
