In a bid to enhance the San Fernando City Airport’s capacity and infrastructure, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) met to discuss plans for its development. The discussion focused on aligning efforts and exploring collaborative opportunities to improve the airport’s operational capacity.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David underscored the airport’s role as a catalyst for tourism and economic development in Northern Luzon. She highlighted the necessity of upgrading airport facilities to keep it abreast with current demands to reinforce La Union as one of the premier tourism and business hubs in the region. She also informed the BCDA about prior activities that the PGLU has undertaken to jumpstart efforts for airport redevelopment.

Engr. Richard Brian M. Cepe, Vice-President for Land and Assets Development of the BCDA, also apprised the PGLU about their plans for the improvement of the San Fernando City Airport to accommodate flights and better serve the region's needs.

Moving forward, both parties agreed to establish a framework for collaboration, including information sharing and engagement with key industry players, to facilitate investment opportunities for the airport.

The PGLU is looking forward to working closely with the BCDA to ensure the successful redevelopment of the San Fernando City Airport as it will enhance connectivity, attract more tourists, and boost business and investment opportunities for La Union and Northern Luzon.
