The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), has taken a bold step towards preserving nature by signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the La Union Province Parole and Probation Office (LUPPO) in fostering ecological integrity and a clean and healthy environment in line with the PGLU’s #KalikasanNaman Campaign.

The signing of the MOA took place on May 3, 2023, at the La Union Provincial Capitol lobby, City of San Fernando, La Union. The agreement entails providing forest native seedlings and a 2-hectare lot area located inside the Damortis Provincial Nursery to the LUPPO for seedling propagation and enrichment planting activities of their parolees or probationers.

This partnership between the PG-ENRO and LUPPO highlights the importance of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan in achieving a common goal for the betterment of the environment and community.

Gov. Raphelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David in her message emphasized the significance of collective efforts in preserving nature and restoring natural resources. She reiterated that restoring the environment and natural resources is one of the highest forms of environmental stewardship and a constitutional duty of each and everyone.

The PGLU continues to show its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and protection as it becomes the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
